Smiling, I lean forward, placing a short, sweet kiss on his lips, murmuring, “I do too, Gio, but I’m here now.”

“And you’re not going anywhere,” he growls, snaking his arms around my waist and pulling me as close as I can be. I snuggle in, laying against his chest to listen to his heartbeat. The comforting sound drums in my ear, calming me.

Eventually, my heartbeat seems to align with his, and the harmony lulls me to sleep.

Ding, ding. Ding, ding.

Rolling over, I look to the bedside table where I left my phone last night, so I easily reach over and grab it. A text lights up the screen and the numbers that read 9:24 am. I haven’t slept this long in a while, and honestly, it feels good to get the extra sleep.
